LOCATING LEAKS
HYDROSTATIC DRAIN TESTS
These quick and simple tests are the initial indicators of whether there are breaks or leaks in sewer drains.
As shown in the picture, the water is holding in a newly installed cleanout, indicating an in-tact sewer drain system.
SEWER CAMERA INSPECTION
If the drain system fails the hydrostatic drain test, we use our sewer inspection camera to locate the breaks or leaks. The camera winds its way through the entire drain system to inspect for not only breaches in the pipes, but the condition of the pipes. Most older houses have clay or cast iron drains which can be deteriorating in many areas, causing water loss to saturate under the slab, leading to foundation problems.
SONDE DETECTION
The sewer camera transmits a signal indicating its location. When a break is seen on the camera screen, we use a sonde locator to pinpoint the location of the camera, giving us the exact area of the drain that needs to be repaired.
DRAINAGE
Proper drainage is one of the best preventative measures home owners can take to avoid costly foundation repairs.
Whether a driveway channel drain, a French drain, or a simple discharge line is needed, all efforts to keep water draining away from foundations should be taken to help keep foundations stable.
